This past weekend I took some friends to the mountains to snowshoe for the first time. As we drove up the canyon toward Nederland, I warned them that we might not find much snow given the 60-70 degree week prior and the bare hills we watched pass by. While we were looking for the trail to Lost Lakes, we took a wrong turn and found ourselves near the Moffat Tunnel. In a (very rare for me) moment of spontaneity, we decided to park at the tunnel and pick the first trail we saw.
The result: we found the snow we were looking for! Not only was the trail packed with feet of snow, but the sky opened up and dumped snowflakes for part of our trek. Below are the photos I captured of the snowfall.
